Woods Bagot

Impact Investment Group aspired to redevelop six century-old warehouse buildings with an industrial past into a thriving precinct of co-working hubs, boutique and artisan retail, start-up office spaces, arts practitioner studios, community garden and public amenities. Retaining most of the existing buildings’ fabric and demonstrating leadership in sustainable planning, design, delivery and operations was an over-riding priority.

Cundall was engaged to help IIG create a visionary zero carbon, zero water and zero waste precinct that also delivers measurable community benefit and prioritises human wellbeing. One Planet Living certification was selected as an appropriate pathway. This lens was applied across energy modelling, hydraulics design, materials specification, passive thermal comfort and on-site renewable energy specification.

"Historically, the Woolstore would have been the social and economic heart of the area - this was a unique opportunity to be involved in reinvigorating the buildings to become a community asset once again. The innovations and overarching sustainability approach ensure the precinct will make a measurable contribution to a connected, low-carbon, climate-resilient, resource-efficient future for decades to come." Amy Banks, Consultant.
