Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre has been serving Sydney’s inner-west since the 1980s. The comprehensive redevelopment incorporates a new Coles supermarket to complement the existing Woolworths and Aldi, a new fresh food precinct including market-style artisan food producers and ethnic cuisines, specialty retailers, new indoor and alfresco dining options and expanded car parking.

Cundall was appointed to provide the building services design and sustainability strategy and analysis across both new and existing parts of the centre. The robust, low energy design has a strong emphasis on daylight, natural ventilation and thermal comfort to ensure the result achieves the client’s goal of operating one of Sydney’s most sustainable shopping centres.

"AMP Capital cared about the sustainability credentials, and so do the people Marrickville Metro serves. By prioritising the environmental dimension, it creates a clear point of difference for the centre. Our team was able to show – through energy and daylight modelling and a life cycle assessment – that our building services expertise would deliver the outcomes the client was seeking." Mohammad Ali, Director.
