The Riverside Sunderland masterplan will provide 1,000 homes, 1 million ft2 of commercial space, as well as parks and public areas. New infrastructure includes a new footbridge across the River Wear, connecting the former Vaux site with the Sheepfolds. The scheme will reinvent Sunderland city centre and bring focus back to the historic River Wear.

Our planning team has been involved from the start, first securing planning approval for Vaux and then the wider site. Our engineering teams have then played a central role in defining the masterplan and phasing across the whole scheme.

Gary Marshall, Partner commented, “The transformation of the Vaux is easily one of the most ambitious regeneration projects in the UK. The masterplan has grown extensively since its inception and we are proud to continue our work on future developments."
