In consolidating approximately 1000 of its professional and administrative staff from multiple locations into one 10,600m2 office fit-out within the QV building, RMIT University took the opportunity to apply best-practice ESD principles. In addition to achieving a 5 Star Green Star Interiors rating, the new fit-out aimed to be beyond reproach in relation to Indigenous recognition and ensure accessibility and equity for all staff and visitors.

We worked closely with RMIT to support their existing ESD frameworks for the project, including consideration of WELL Building Standard health and wellbeing principles. Our team led the delivery of Green Star rating requirements throughout design and delivery, embedding concepts to support human health and high-performance building services. As the Independent Commissioning Agent, Cundall also ensured the office performed as designed.

"This was a collective achievement - the design team, participation from RMIT’s Indigenous team and student involvement came together in delivering the sustainability outcomes. This fit-out created a space that is beneficial for occupants and aesthetically pleasing while also delivering functionality to suit the specific needs of varying users including people with a disability." Nandini Phadnis, Consultant.
