The owners of this Double Bay home are serious art collectors, and as part of the major renovation of the three-bedroom home wished for a lighting design that would enable them to rotate artworks throughout the home and display them to best effect. Lighting was also used to enhance liveability and accentuate the aesthetics of the final renovation.

Our lighting strategy considered the interplay between natural daylighting and the ability of light at night to set a scene and support the owners’ lifestyle, as well as a custom solution for lighting of their collection of artworks. Flexibility was vital, so we designed and specified track lighting with magnetic luminaires that can be easily reconfigured by the owners.

"The lighting design relies on a multitude of pinpoint features throughout the home that flood surfaces with light rather than directing light into space. All lighting is low-energy, with central controls programmed with a range of scenes to reflect the lifestyle of the occupants. Lighting of the artworks adds a creative dimension, shifting an artwork’s story between day and night." Bettina Easton, Associate.
