Triple win at West Midlands CIBSE Awards 2021

UK and Europe 15 December 2021

Our building services engineering team was celebrated at the West Midlands CIBSE Awards 2021.

During the annual awards ceremony, we were awarded Engineer of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year and Project of the Year.

Peter Hazzard, schools and colleges sector lead was awarded Engineer of the Year for his work championing net zero carbon in education. He has led the team delivering GenZero, a Department for Education research project delivering a prototype net zero school design as well as the Welsh Government Mutual Investment Model (MIM) Schools, where Peter is the building services technical advisor for the programme to deliver sustainable schools across Wales.

Tim Newcombe, Graduate Building Services Engineer was awarded Young Engineer of the Year for his passion to progress and grow within the industry. He has spent time tutoring students in STEM subjects, organising a CPD programme for the practice and delivering low and zero carbon technologies for landmark Birmingham scheme, Three Chamberlain Square. Tim was awarded BCO Graduate of the Year at the BCO NextGen awards earlier this year.

GenZero was awarded Project of the Year for its innovative approach to challenging current school design to achieve a more sustainable outcome. The project is a Department for Education (DfE) led research project aimed at developing a prototype school design that is net zero in both construction and operation.
