'Boulevard in the sky' in for planning'

UK and Europe 15 March 2022

Salford Rise is one of the first projects to come out of the Crescent masterplan and is a key piece of infrastructure to enable future phases.

The scheme will see an 11-metre-wide podium constructed over Frederick Road connecting the University of Salford’s campus to the wider ‘Crescent Innovation’ zone. The podium is described as 'a new boulevard in the sky' with views, seating areas and plants.

Our team of consultants including civil, structural, geotechnical, building services, specialist lighting, sustainability and net zero carbon advice has been working closely with English Cities Fund, the University of Salford and whole project team to design this exemplar podium which will compliment future regeneration plans.

Lee Leston-Jones
, Structural Partner on this project commented, “the aim of the project is to create a 15-minute neighbourhood, a revolution in urban planning which hopes to provide residents with access to all of their needs within a short walk or bike ride from their home. We are proud to be part of the delivering team for this masterplan and we look forward to seeing it develop”.

The proposal has been submitted for planning and we are waiting for approval. The project has also been recognised in the media recently, more information here.
