Jargon buster: Building Magazine’s new podcast features a familiar voice

UK and Europe 29 November 2021

When Building Magazine launched its new ‘Building Talks’ podcast in October, listeners may have noticed a familiar voice. Cundall Sustainability Partner, Simon Wyatt, has lent his expertise to the six-part series, discussing net zero in a regular ‘jargon buster’ segment.

Launched on 25 October, just a few days before COP26 began, the Building Talks Net Zero podcast series is hosted by Chloe McCulloch, Editor at Building, and Elizabeth Hopkirk, Assistant Editor at Building Design. The podcast aims to help construction professionals “navigate complex issues by focusing on people at the forefront of finding solutions to the climate emergency.”

Simon’s role as the series’ regular net zero ‘jargon buster’ comes after his stint as a regular contributor to the magazine’s Countdown to COP26 series in the lead up to the climate conference. On the podcast he discusses some of the key issues surrounding net zero, including the difference between net zero carbon and carbon neutral, how financial institutions are driving change, Design for Performance and NABERS UK, Greenhouse Gas Protocol vs RICS Whole Life Carbon, sequestration, and heat pumps.
